A Word From Your Pastor
When will this be over?
Sadly, we just don't know, but this much I do know - The Mission of our pairsh and diocese will carry on!
I can say that because of messages we receive from parishioners like the following:
Dear Msgr. Enke,
Just finished watching and participating at long distance in today's liturgy. What a beautiful Mass! And your homily was "spot on", Msgr. I especially liked the quote from Christian Julia of Norwich: "He did not say, 'You shall not be tempest-tossed, you shall not be work-weary, you shall not be discomforted,' but he said, 'You shall not be overcome.'" What an insight into life itself!
Yes, we will be tempest-tossed, and work-weary, and discomforted, but if we have faith in Him, we shall not be overcome! This is life, and this is grace! As I sit at home, unable to get out anywhere - not to Church, not to go shopping, nor to meet friends for lunch - it seems so very difficult, but this, too, shall pass! He has, and is, and will give me strength to get through this, with Him at my side, with my hand firmly held within His own, and with His beautiful words to strengthen me.
Thank you so much for sharing the Mass weekly with those of us who cannot - or dare not - go out into crowds to attend the Holy Mass. I'm hoping that in the near future, things will quiet down so that more of us can get to Mass, but I don't think that will happen soon - we've been warned that this pandemic will be with us well into 2021! It is a very trying time, for sure, but your weekly words do help!”
Attendance at our two weekend Masses and two daily Masses continue to increase slightly. We will have had four weddings this month and next.
Our first Baptisms in months will occur at the beginning of next month.
Parish Council will come together again for the first time since March and look at just where we are now and will be.
Holy Communion will continue to be brought to Catholic residents of one facility by a resident.
Fist Holy Communions continue on – no more than five at a time on our weekend Masses – into the middle of August.
Preparations for our PSR program continue which will likely be both on-line and in person for sacramental preparation. Our small classrooms can only accommodate about five children.
In short, many challenges still lie ahead, but we are up to them. I am encouraged by the continued financial support of parishioners even though you are not here yet at Mass.
Likewise, our parish is stepping up yet again to support the 2020 Bishop’s Annual Appeal. Both the diocese and our parish will benefit from your generosity.
Yes, the Corona virus has dealt us a significant blow but, by no means, knocked us out. Let us continue to hold each other in prayer and we “Keep calm and carry on.”

We thank the diocese for giving us this opportunity in spite of the Covid19 pandemic. We do appreciate your sacrifice particularly at this time to show solidarity to the less fortunate children of God in India."
